Memories/Highlights from Newton, NJ
July 23rd - July 28th, 2010
Our "Grand Tour, 2010" started with the long trek to New Jersey. Avery (once again) impressed us with her stellar traveling skills - sleeping, snacking and playing (on repeat) for hours.
We loved getting away to the open farmland of New Jersey - a nice break from the Charlotte traffic and noise. It was so great to get an extended visit with Jeff's family too.
The dairy farm behind the house never ceased to amaze Avery with the multitude of cows. She could say "Cow! Cow! Oooooh!" at the backdoor.
We had the pleasure of seeing a baby calf that was 2 hours old! We even got to witness the first time he stood up!
Across the street, Windy Brow Peach Festival did not disappoint with Peach turnovers...mmm!
The goats impressed a certain little lady, too.
Long days watching cows, going down slides at the park and playing at the pool (in the great ladybug floaty)...

... meant early nights, and even falling asleep during dinner!
On Saturday night some of Jeff's childhood/high school friends gathered for a cookout and pool party. We loved seeing all of our friends - we don't get to see them nearly enough!
Everyone had to try on Doug/Grandpa's hat - it was the 'hot item' that day!
Here are our guests/models...

No matter what, there was plenty to entertain and get into:
This is Avery and her friend Lily, Jay and Jenn's little girl:
Avery got to see her Great-"GranNon"...

... and she enjoyed getting to know her Uncle Brad...
... who taught her how to make lots of noise playing the piano!

While visiting at Grandpa and Grandma White's house, Avery learned of many new places she would like to visit, meanwhile destroying the shelf of travel books:
Her favorites seemed to include travel books on France and Italy, as well as the Montana Trivia book. Looks as though she is planning on being well-traveled and well-educated. Before we go anywhere else, though... let's make a stop in a little town called Medina, OH...
