Austin is the shortened form of Augustine, which means "great" or "magnificent." It is also Jeff's middle name. "Lucas" means "light" and signifies the great light that has entered our lives in his very presence. The name happens to have the same meaning as his big sister Lucy's name, and will forever connect him to his sister who waits for us in heaven.

Before they weighed him the nurses were guessing he was over 9 pounds but he came in just under!

Nana, Papa and Avery came by to meet Austin that morning.

Thank goodness my mom and dad had come into town the night before his arrival - it made life much easier since we had to depart for the hospital at 2:45 in the morning!

Mom and baby doing great after the c-section. Apparently Big Bro Parker had on a t-shirt that says he's the "big brother in charge." Get ready, little Miles B... You are really going to have to hit the ground running. :)

The last couple days I've been trying to write something New Year's-ish for the bliggity-blog, and who knows maybe I still will, but I think this sweet little bundle really represents what I see for this new year - beauty, grace, hope, love, and SMILES. I was honestly a bit terrified of 2012 before now (more on that later), but I know that God is good all of the time.
