Our little nephew Parker celebrated his 1st birthday last week and we had a big birthday bash for him this past Saturday in Norfolk, VA. Grandma and Grandpa Bricker, Aunt Meg, and the three of us joined Aunt Erin, Uncle Martin and Parker for the weekend.
Birthday Boy smiles!

The Party!
Pork was on the menu, and let me tell you Parker is a HAM. He was milking every moment from the "happy birthday" singing, to eating cake, to opening (and climbing on) all of his plentiful gifts.

Avery enjoyed the balloons:
Uncle Martin even tied one on her wrist, which she LOVED:
Parker got a toy car! He actually got two! Lucky dog. The extra-thrilling thing about the car toy is that my family KNOWS the boy on the box! It's little Jace, the grandson of our closest family friends. Here's Parker posing with Jace-on-the-box:

We got to see some of our friends in the area and it was so nice to catch up! Brian and Lynlea and Stefanie and Adam (all Elon grads!) came to the b-day party with their little girls. How we walked away from this visit without at least an attempt to get a "future Elon" picture of the kids I can not explain.
Here's Jeff with Avery and Brian with Paige:

Avery and Parker both have a fierce need to dance when they hear music and really enjoy pestering each other --- especially when one of them was playing with the bubble lawn mower toy.

They did much better playing with Parker's ball popper toy that shoots balls out the top - this kept them running, running, running after those balls! Needless to say this is Parker's FAVORITE word. BALL. I met his teacher at the birthday party and she confirmed that he's obsessed. Even when Parker gets up from his nap every day he immediately says "ball."
While Parker was distracted, Avery swiped his NBA headband...

Sunday we went out to Portsmouth to see the town, walk around and relax. Well, SOME of us relaxed inside a bar watching football (I'll give you 4 guesses... and I've helped you with the first two):

The rest of us walked around then stopped to play with doggies and bubbles in a park. We met back up after the game and walked out to the water and saw the ferry.

It was a great weekend, that passed too quickly, but we are lucky that Aunt Erin, Uncle Martin and Parker will be coming to Charlotte soon.

'Til next time!
