The 3rd season of "I'd Rather Have A Beer," kicked off last night with the league draft. For our readers out there, the league consists of Hank Thorpe, Tom "Wee Man" O'Neill, The White America's, The Alexander's and The "West Coast" Wyatt's (new nickname).
In our inaugural season, team Rat's Nest (yours truly) brought home the championship. I dominated the regular season before defeating Panther Girl (Age Alexander) in the the Championship game.
In the second season, I Heart Goodies (Kate White America) defeated Derek Triccoli OUT!! (Hank Thorpe) in the Championship game.
So, two years and two championships in the White America household...what will happen this year? (By the way, I followed up my championship year with a 1-12 season)

Tiger World
This past Saturday, as a pre anniversary surpise from Kate, The White Americas and the Alexanders went up to Tiger World. While there we got to play and feed a baby tiger and lion. It was awesome, definitely a once in a lifetime experience.
Some other highlights!
Here are a few photos:
Some other highlights!
1. Age's new boyfriend the baboon.
2. The bengal tiger that played games with Chad and I. A little scary when he charged the half inch chain linked fence and stood on his hind legs. He was about 7 feet long.
3. The snake that kept trying to escape.
4. The angry monkey that kept throwing stuff around his cage.
5. Seeing a baby Liger. Yes, they are real. This guy is going to be huge!

Old School Picture of the Week
Each week I'll be posting one of mine or Kate's (if she ever organizes her photos) pictures.
Criteria:
1. Has to be pre 2001 (last year of college)
2. Must include a friend, family member, enemy, pet, monument...
3. Possible embarrassment (my first picture might be the winner)
Ok, the first picture up is Hank and I from 7th or 8th grade (year???). We were on our way to Hal Ersner-Hershfield's (yes, longest name ever), Bar Mitzvah. My Mom got us to stand still while she snapped this beauty. Hank and I were always laughing about something, we pretty much ruined every picture we were in!

Enjoy!

2nd Anniversary Dinner
Yesterday, Kate and I celebrated our 2nd Anniversary with dinner at McCormick & Schmick's. When I made the reservation I let them know it was our anniversary and any "extra special" treatment would be greatly appreciated. Well, we got our own private booth (basically a tiny room; like a place Tom would sleep), free desert and printed on the menu, Happy 2nd Anniversary.

Kate went with Ahi Tuna and I had the Alaskan Halibut (stuffed with lobster), both of which were awesome!
I thought that was pretty cool of them to print Happy Anniversary on the menu, this was by far the best service I've had at a restaurant in years.
Highly Recommended!!

Kiawah Island
Kate and I are heading to Kiawah on August 30th...pray that a random hurricane doesn't hit us. Speaking of which, how come we get hurricane names like Fay and Fran? Why not have some cool names like Hammer or Bob...Ok, back to Kiawah, we will be spending a week down there, catching some rays at the beach and relaxing. This is my favorite place in the world and have been vacationing there since i was very young (Mom, how old was I?). So, it's great to share it with Kate and hopefully our family down the road!

I have many a fond memory, like the time my cousin decided to ride his bike through a channel while the tide was coming in...mother nature won that battle, I'm pretty sure that bike is in the middle of the Atlantic now. Also, there was the time I was playing catch with a random neighbor, she (yes, she) threw the ball to me and nailed me in the face...my first black eye. Brad and I also used to pretend we were ninjas fighting in Double Dragon while hanging out in the ocean. Good times!
Last year, Kate and I spent the week down there doing nothing, this time around we are hoping to do some kayaking and fishing/crabbing. There will be plenty of photos posted afterwards. Here are a few from last year.

Camera Phone Pictures
A couple random photos for you from this past weekend. The show was amazing, loud and intense. The "mosh pit" area was ridiculous, people being tossed in the air and everyone moving like one big wave. I couldn't even talk after the show because I had sang along loudly to every song.

One Among The Fence
Saturday, Kate and I are heading to Myrtle Beach to see my favorite band, Coheed and Cambria in concert. We previously saw them in 2006 and were the oldest people at the concert. Like we said then, at least we don't have to wait in line for beer.
Attached is a video for "In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3," fast forward to the 45 second mark so you see what Kate and I will be a part of!
Apparently the videos no longer work on here, but you can still hear them...anyways here is a picture of the band in concert...
