I was trying to think of a blog to write (since we've been slacking) and this topic came to mind. Last weekend, Tony and I were talking about the perfect day, he suggested to me, video games and all the Guns N' Roses albums, and he got me thinking how great that sounded. So I decided why not tell a story about my childhood.
It was either late 1991 or early 1992, while riding up to Vermont with my parents and Brunt, I was listening to the new Guns N' Roses album, Use Your Illusion 2 on cassette. I had received both Use Your Illusion 1 (from Trevor Roberts) and 2 for my birthday and hadn't mentioned the explicit lyrics label to the folks. Well, somehow my Dad, got a hold of the tape liner and read the lyrics to "Get in the Ring," out loud. I won't even mention what was said but it was pretty traumatizing at the time! That was the last time I saw both of the tapes, my parents claim to have thrown them in the fire place.
A few years later, while visiting my sister and her husband in South Carolina, I came across Use Your Illusion 2 in their collection of music. I was able to successfully borrow it (let me know when you want that back) without my parents noticing!
To this day I think those albums are some of the best rock albums with one of the best songs and music videos of all time, "November Rain."
I still enjoy the music on all their albums (Who doesn't get pumped up when they here Welcome To The Jungle??), including the latest "Guns" album, with only Axl Rose remaining. I asked Kate the other day if we could name our first boy, Axl White. She gave me a look and I immediately crossed that name of the list, but it was worth a shot! There is a website that specializes in "rocker" clothing and they do have some available Guns N' Roses onesies and t-shirts...so, you'll be seeing Baby White America in one soon enough!

Rock On!!
