I have to say, I never thought I'd spend much time in a comic book store in my lifetime. But it turns out I've tagged along with Jeff (when he's looking for something specific... or just wants to channel his 10 year old self) often enough to actually enjoy my visits. Plus, it's good to support these types of activities periodically - it helps in getting him to watch a rom-com movie or listen to "my" music in the car. I think it's sweet Jeff wants to share his childhood love of comics with me, and now Avery. Jeff still has a box of comics that he's held on to and to his delight Avery has been very receptive to hearing all about Batman and Spiderman.
I didn't realize how much the super-hero stuff was sinking in with her until one day I heard her playing with her friends saying, "OK, you be Iron Man, you be Spiderman, and I'll be Batman." She then proceeded to show her little friend (who was supposed to be Spiderman) how to crouch down as if perched on a building. I wasn't sure if I should be embarrassed or proud, but it was very humorous.
Recently we visited our favorite local comic book store here in Charlotte, Heroes Aren't Hard to Find, and Jeff gave Avery a tour.
Avery especially loved the figurines:
And of course the huge Spiderman dude up on the display case:
This was Ave staring up at Spiderman... "Wow."
The employee at the store was just smitten with her after she looked up at Spidey and asked, "Can I HUG him?" Too cute. :)
